Kurt Leimer: Bach, Beethoven and Brahms

With Bach’s E major French Suite BWV 817 and two musical milestones, one classical and one romantic, the fifth instalment of the Kurt Leimer special edition provides new fuel to ignite the enthusiasm of lovers of the piano. Beethoven’s Sonata no. 32 in C minor op. 111 and Brahms’s Variations on a Theme of Paganini op. 35 (originally recorded with EMI) are coupled together in a strongly interrelated programme in which each individual piece and the whole collection once again illustrate the appealingly “different” art of piano playing which the name of Kurt Leimer has exemplified for almost 100 years.
